Retractable belt barriers, also known as retractable queue barriers, retractable webbing barriers or, more simply, retractable barriers, are popular types of crowd control barriers. Typically consisting of a free-standing vertical pole, retractable belt and solid base, there are also options that can be surface-mounted on magnetic plates or for socket fixed bolted to the ground. They are often used at Airport and Railway concourses, Factories, Workshops and Warehouses, Museums, Historic houses, Event spaces, Shopping centres and Retail outlets and are designed to restrict access to certain areas, improve safety and maintain order.
Certain Retractable Barriers known as Wall mounted Units are fixed directly to one wall, which removes the need for a pole. These are supplied with a Wall receiving clip, which the tape end slots into on the opposing wall to create the barrier. As their name suggests, all retractable belt barriers feature a retractable belt that extends to a specified length to help ease crowd congestion and direct foot traffic. When not in use, the belt tape simply retracts back into the pole or cassette, using a patented safety braking mechanism which retracts slowly. This means that the moveable post version of the barrier is neat, tidy and ready for transportation.
Retractable barriers have numerous applications and can be found in various settings, including airports, art galleries, museums, banks, retail locations, festivals and VIP events. They are so popular because they help event organisers and shop owners to highlight queuing zones, restrict access to specific areas, prevent unauthorised entry, create easy-to-follow walkways and so much more. The decision to use portable, freestanding queuing barriers often depends on the space available. With two belt length options - 2.3m and 3.65m - to consider, as well as the military-grade webbing material and patented braking mechanism, both options offer flexibility as to how easy it is to deploy but also its longevity. Wall mounted units offer the above webbing length options as well as 4.6m, 7.7m and 9m and offer a quick and simple deployment from one wall to another by simply extending and slotting the tape end on the receiving clip in seconds. This will keep your floor space clear by displaying a visible barrier at waist height, which is double sided, without the need for uprights.
